Tips & Tricks for Growing Autoflowering Cannabis Plants

Posted by Mister Medicinal on

What are Autoflowering Cannabis Plants?

Autoflowering cannabis varieties automatically switch from vegetative growth to the flowering stage with age, as opposed to the ratio of light to dark hours required with photoperiod dependent/short-day strains. Many autoflowers will be ready to harvest in less than 10 weeks from seed. Dwarf varieties can have short stature while still giving decent yield. Conversely "super autos" can take over 100 days to mature and can reach over 6 feet tall.

The first thing to remember when growing autoflowering cannabis is that the taproots will shoot straight down and fairly quickly, Much more quickly than a photoperiod cannabis plant, You are going to want to plant your seeds in the pot you plan on flowering in to avoid transplant stress.

Autos are very delicate, Stress during the growing cycle of an auto will substantially decrease your yeilds, This is because with photoperiod plants for example if your plant was stunted for 7 days after transplant you could simply add 7 days to the vegitative cycle to make up for the transplant stress, you are not able to do this with autos because they begin flowering when they are old enough and not when you change the photoperiod.

The #1 thing with autos is you need to avoid any kind of stress like the plague or COVID 19/Coronavirus, You get the point, Stress is a big no no when growing autos or you are going to be very disappointed with your final yeild.
